AAMUSTED HOLDS ORIENTATION FOR FRESH UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

In welcoming students during the 1st of a three session orientation program organized for undergraduate freshmen and women of Akenten Appiah-Menka University of skills training and entrepreneurial development yesterday, the Ag Vice Chancellor of the University highlighted on the students being the pacesetters admitted to the institution.

He said “We are the leading institution of higher learning in the country with the mandate to train teachers for technical and vocational sector as well as other professionals.” He indicated that the orientation is a special program which enables them to adapt to their new surroundings as they’ve left their homes for furthering of their studies. Also it was to provide the necessary information to the new students so as to make their stay on campus so much comfortable.

He advised the students to make efficient use to ensure that all the resources at their disposal facilitates the teaching and learning of as well as well as resources provided. Speaking in relation to covid 19 and Lecture, Professor Sarfo stated measures for COVID 19 are being strictly enforced as especially with lectures as it begins in earnest on Monday January 18th, 2021. Lecture would include face to face, Online as well as Virtual form of teaching.

On Facilities, there’s been extended internet access for Academic and social purposes. Prof Sarfo stated that he wishes the students turn their minds away from teacher dependent learning to peer and self dependent learning, by so doing it would help the students get critical teaching skills to cope with the new skills and opportunities.

He further added students must stay close to their books and make use of the resources placed at their disposal and urging them to be punctual and regular at lecture and all university functions.

On Extra curricular activities he told them joining some associations or clubs, sports association and entertainment groups would ensure the grooming of a holistic individual for a better human development but not forgetting bad practices some students habour around, Professor Sarfo touched against occultic practices, stealing, Homo sexual Activities, Drugs and other illegal substances.

On security he advised walking alone at nights and being aware of some wolves in sheep skin who are in with bad motives. He stretched on students being security conscious .

In conclusion Professeor Fredrick K Sarfo said it is his conviction that through hard work and determination they shall rise above those challenges to excel in various programs of study. He admonished the students to often be on the website of the school soa s to be served with all the necessary information (www.aamusted.edu.gh).

He agin advised them to be law abiding and read in full all rules and regulations  for undergraduate students that would be given them. He said students must hold in high esteem the university as  the institution cannot be without its students quoting an adage that No one points to his fathers house with the left hand. He wished them well and a safe stay on campus.
