Jobless youth will receive under GHc600 IPP gov’t- Akpaloo

Children below 18 years and unemployed youth will receive GH¢600 and GH¢1,200 respectively under a government of the Independent People’s Party (IPP) every year.

This was revealed by founder and leader of the IPP, Kofi Akpaloo during the party’s manifesto Launch last week.

Kofi Akpaloo noted that the project will begin in the second quarter of his first year in office when elected in the November polls.

“It will commence from somewhere in July, first and foremost we have to make sure we allocate social security numbers to everyone in Ghana to serve as a defacto ID, and then when that is done, we will also have our address system well planned and then the two will be linked together so that we know where each person lives and when that is done, it will serve as defacto IDs for all public transactions.”

Kofi Akpaloo explained that monies will monthly be sent to house through the Post service.

“Because we also intend to revive the postal services, so they will work with the social welfare, so the social welfare and the post office will be working together to do the payment.”

The flagbearer of the IPP said money for the payment will be collected from “taxes, social security contributions.”

On education, the IPP flagbearer further mentioned that the Junior High School and the Senior High School phases of education will be merged.

“We dont want to have kids graduating at age 14, in our current system, we have children graduating at age 14, because some of them will come out of JHS at age 14 and sometimes they are not able to pass to go to SHS so out of that, these kids, you find them selling on the street and they become frustrated in life. IPP we want to abort that. So what we want to do is that we want to merge, the JHS and the SHS to become one school. So that when you finish class 6, you go to SHS 1, SHS 2, SHS 3, SHS 4, SHS 5 and SHS 6, so that every child will finish SHS.”

The IPP in its manifesto also mentioned relocating the nation’s capital from Accra.

Kofi Akpaloo revealed the party’s intention of building a new city in between the Brong Ahafo and Northern Regions.

“We want to relocate the capital from Accra, to in between Brong Ahafo and Northern Region, we want to build a new city there. You shouldn’t be surprised. This will not take more than 5years to do. When you go to Egypt, they are building a new city, from Cairo, just 56kilometres fr Cairo they are building a new city. Nigeria did that, they build Abuja, and Togo and Cote d’Ivoire did that, so you shouldn’t be surprised if IPP are proclaiming that we are going to build a new city.”
