Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Constituency, Hon Dr Kingsley Nyarko says, the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic has passed the National Research Fund Act.
The bill which was laid in parliament in 2019 is to establish a Ghana National Research Fund to provide funds to support national research in tertiary and research institutions and also to provide for the management of the fund and other accompanied issues.
Speaking on the theme “The Impact of Socio-Economic Growth on Academic Development” organised by the Student Parliament of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) on Saturday, July 17, 2021, Dr Nyarko said, the passage of the bill will help stakeholders come out with research instruments that will help transform the nation to compete with other states such as Singapore, Japan and Tunisia.
“One thing that this government has done that I want to put on record is the fact that, the National Research Fund Act has been passed by parliament and this national research fund is going to help us to harness all the resources that will help us embark on one breaking research that will transform the fortunes of this country.”
According to the MP for Kwadaso, President Akufo-Addo’s government will in its capacity help build a better Ghana that will move away from importing good and services and exporting of raw materials.
