Prof. Frederick K. Sarfo, First Vice Chancellor of AAMUSTED

Professor Frederick K. Sarfo, highly distinguished in the field of Educational Technology in academia, has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED).

By a press release dated June 1, 2021, signed by the University’s Relation Officer (URO), Mr. Michael Kofi Twum-Ampomah, the University Community is being informed of the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor; in fulfilment of Section 16 (2) of the AAMUTED Act 2020, Act 1026.

In an interview with the URO on the MYND Major News on June 3, 2021, Mr. Twum-Ampomah indicated that, the university is so pleased to have a very hardworking and determined person to set the standards and lay the foundations of the university.

“Prof. Sarfo, as I know him, is somebody who is very hardworking and poised to make this [institution] AAMUSTED, one of the best institutions in terms of TVET in the world and not just Ghana,” adding “In the next four years and beyond, he’s looking forward to making AAMUSTED realize and fulfil its mandate which is basically TVET and Entrepreneurship.”

Mr. Twum Ampomah further reiterated that, work has already commenced and supports are being sort across all sectors to put all needed structures in place for the smooth running of the university. He therefore entreated the university community to come on board and support the new vice chancellor and make the university an epitome of skills and entrepreneurial centre.

According to the URO, currently there are about three or more institutions that AAMUSTED have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with, aside which, Prof. Sarfo has been visiting other institutions and funding agencies to make sure that the university get the needed funds to be able to finance most of the project that the Vice Chancellor has in mind.

“So Prof. Sarfo has a vision to turn this institution into one of the best institutions as far as TVET is concerned in the world,” he concluded.

Mr Twum-Ampomah meanwhile, called on staff, students and the entire university community to propagate the name of AAMUSTED by encouraging prospective applicants/candidates seeking tertiary education to embrace the current admission window which has been opened, to make AAMUSTED their preferred destination for higher education.
